IFA HR officially announced its entry into the wildlife hospitality market in August 2007 through a 50% stake in a joint venture company formed with Legend Lodges Hotels & Resorts for the purpose of acquiring the Legend Golf & Safari Resort development.
Today, Legend Golf & Safari Resort offers an exceptional golf course, estate and facilities, where wildlife and spectacular landscape are an integral part of the lifestyle. The resort is situated within the breathtaking 22,000 ha (220 million square metre) Entabeni Safari Conservancy in the malaria-free Waterberg Region of the Limpopo Province of South Africa.
Hailed as Africa's Leading Sports Resort and South Africa’s Leading Golf Resort at the 2010 World Travel Awards, Legend Golf & Safari Resort's world first Signature Golf Course has also been named the Best Golf Course in Africa at the World Property Awards in association with Bloomberg.
Designed by 18 of the planet's greatest male golfers, each hole has the vision of a great golfer at its heart. Rounding off the course is The Extreme 19th – the highest and longest Par 3 in the world. Accessible only by helicopter, the tee is set 400m up on the majestic Hanglip Mountain and played to a green in the shape of Africa some400m below. The resort also features a tribute course which re-creates 10 of the world’s most famous Par 3s. Beyond the fairways, an endless array of activities await from traditional safari drives to the Legend Wildlife & Cultural Centre – home to the world’s rarest white lions and the centre of local conservation efforts.
The second phase of sales is underway, allowing purchasers to acquire plots of land to develop homes which can be incorporated into the suite rental pool generating financial return to the owner whilst not in use as well as plot purchase opportunities in the Wildlife Estate precinct.
The resort offers a variety of dining options and in excess of 200 exquisite suites designed so that guests enjoy modern amenities while experiencing the wonders of the African bush. The neighbouring Entabeni Safari Conservancy, home of the Big 5 (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhinoceros) also boasts five luxury lodges with 90 guest rooms and tents which offer an alternative accommodation and dining experience.
As memorable a venue for special events or corporate retreats as for a holiday, Legend Golf & Safari Resort also employs a dedicated event management team to design programmes of unprecedented originality – from dinner on Hanglip Mountain to guided safari walks.
True South African hospitality awaits guests at Zebra Country Lodge, a 78-guest room venue with splendid views over hills, lakes and streams, only 30km north of Pretoria and 85km from Johannesburg. Zebra Country Lodge has a vast number of meeting and event facilities allowing for all leisure and business events to be accommodated.
